Au Revoir, Adios, Arrivederci, Ciao...
This week we pulled out our hankies and said farewell to the 4 fabulous EIT teachers who have helped us at Mahora for the past year. Room 10 have been especially lucky as the candidate teachers planned and worked with small groups on a technology project. The activities included bird feeders, beach-themed photos frames, screen printed t-shirts and handmade sock buddies. Everyone really enjoyed the sessions so much and were sad when they came to an end. Check out this photopeach slideshow to see some great photos.
Thanks again Miss Spurrier, Miss Sinton, Mr Forman and Miss McIntyre. You guys are the BEST! Ka mau te wehi, have a great holiday and keep in touch!

My Big Win! By Ezrah
WOW! Yesterday in the hall we had a whole school meet up. We had a little talk about production. Then Mrs Pearse announced something really exciting! It was the 'Colour My World' cover competition. My heart was pounding! Then they announced the winners for the year 1, 2 and 3's. Mrs Pearse said... Ezrah Eagle! I stood up and went down to get my voucher and shake Mrs Pearse's hand. $20 to spend at the Warehouse! What will I get...

Daffodil Day Coin
Remember to bring a gold coin for Daffodil Day tomorrow. All money goes to the Cancer Society and is used to support everyone who lives in the Hawkes Bay region. An extremely worthy cause and a great way to show we care.

Colour My World - BLACK!
This week we will be focussing on finalising our item for the production 'Colour My World' in Week 8. Yikes! Best we get busy!
Soooooo, everyone will need a plain black t-shirt and black pants. Leggings for the girls if possible and black track pants for the boys - or you can also wear leggings if you like. Remember plain black - no logos or pictures. Possible shopping spots - The Wharehouse, KMart, Postie Plus, Farmers. If you find a great deal, comment and share it with us all.
Parents: If you are a closet choreographer then come and see Mrs Perry asap - she needs all the help she can get. Thanks for your support!
May the force be with you...

Rippa Rugby Champs!
Another top team were these Rippa Rugby players who won the Year ¾ tournament helped at the Regional Sports Park recently. Is Innika the magic ingredient? She featured in the champion mini ball team too. Great stuff guys, and so proud of those who were 'having a go' at something that was new. That's courage in action!

A Visit from Lightning!
Ana's pet Lightning and his buddy Cairo came to visit today. They had a lovely time in their cage watching the class work on their Wetlands Pentagons and even had a wee snooze! They were very well behaved. It's amazing that when they first visited earlier in the term, there were students who (understandably) were very nervous about having rats in the room and didn't want to touch them. Today most students had a wee hold and patted Lightning, who is very tame. He does have scratchy little claws though! Thanks Ana - it was a memorable visit.

Harakeke - A Super Day Weaving
Today we really stepped up and showed the Mahora values in action. While learning to weave Room 10 students demonstrated..
Courage by giving something new a go
Resilience by keeping on going and not giving up, even though it was a weeny bit tricky!
Friendliness by helping each other and being encouraging

We also showed the skills of patience, kindness and respect for ourselves and each other. We had a magical day. Please watch our slideshow. The accompanying music was chosen because the song is about...
Being strong against obstacles and opposition,
Rising up again after falling,
Continuing on,
You can be shot down, but you won't fall. You are titanium - strong!
