Rainy Day Tips From George!

OK, it's wet but thats OK, here are some tips for rainy day fun from George...
See how many you can try. If you have some great tips to share, comment and share with everyone in Team Tekau. George and I hope you are all having a super, duper holiday!

1.  Read, read, read. Find a nice, cosy place with comfy cushions or just lie on your bed, the couch or the floor! Or see Tip number 2 below...

2.  Make a hut. You can do this by draping a sheet or blanket over a table or between two chairs. Have morning tea inside your hut land lie back and think about what a wonderful person you are. Remember to take all your soft toys and special friends inside your hut too. Can you think of a cool name for your hut?
3.  Write a letter to a friend or someone in your family. You guys all know how to write a super letter as you did that to say thank you to the parents for Beach Ed.

4. Make a card for Mum. Dad, Grandma, Poppa or whoever is special to you. Tell them what makes them special - they will LOVE it. PS Hand made cards are so much more special than one bought from a shop.

5.  Make up a rainy day song so sing one you already know. This is George's favourite one at the moment...
Rain, rain, go away
Come again another day
George wants to go out to play
Rain, rain, go away!

6. Pop some gumboots on, ask if you can borrow an umbrella and go on a small hunt. Snails LOVE wet weather and often appear. Yesterday George found two new snails that he names Shelly and Shiva. Sadly they both escaped the ice-cream container he put them in. Naughty snails...
7.  Make sure its OK with a big person and go and jump, in over, around and through some puddles. The bigger the better! Oh and if they are muddy, put your hands in and make a pie. Make sure you clean up before dinner though!

8.  Pretend you are a pirate or a superhero. Make a map to show where your have some treasure buried or save a life!  Write some instructions and see if someone can follow them to find the treasure e.g. 10 steps to the right, turn anti-clockwise and take rima steps - you know, that kind of thing. You could even hide a wee toy for them to find. Fun! Superhero's, just be super, duper all day and help everyone you meet!

9.  Make something. Scones or muffins. A sandwich or a piece of toast. A smoothie or a hot chocolate. George says you can't do this without big person help though so check first and be very careful with hot things. No accidents allowed!

10.  Have a smiling day! :) Smile at everyone you see and just be happy - it will make everyone else happy too. Give them a hug as well. Probably best not to hug strangers but its OK to smile at them.
Have fun!
PS Don't forget to send George a message and he will reply. Promise!

Cape Kidnappers by Nina

I went to Cape Kidnappers 4 years ago when my big sister Amber was here from Australia.  Here are some pictures.  Every year we camp at Clifton and we can always see the Cape from our camp.  I can't wait to see the gannets again! Check out the cuties in the pink and blue t-shirts - it's Nina and Georgia!

Term 4 Wow!

Super sand trail
What the?
There were many exclamations of 'wow!' when students checked out Room 10 this morning.
The sand path through the classroom was a way to kick off our topic and to get everyone thinking.
Using the framework of 'I know', 'I think' and 'I wonder' we recorded our ideas around the sand.
Our trip in Week 4 - 7 November will be AMAZING!
Where are we going?
See if you can figure it out!
