What a beautiful sight this afternoon! 3 new butterflies performed this wing dance. Well actually two did the one in the middle just posed. Tomorrow we will let them go. Check out both video clips. The second one shows one of the chrysalis doing a wiggle dance and getting ready to push its way out.
We also learned an amazing word today - metamorphosis - which is a word to describe how some animals change after they are born into something completely different. Comment and share any animals you can think of that go through the process of metamorphosis. I wonder how many we can list?

A grasshopper has three stages in its life cycle. It starts off as an egg then it turns into a baby. It grows by drinking milk from its mother then when it has drank enough milk it turns into a adult and the the adult lays more eggs. From Ella
ReplyDeleteWow Team Tekau... I was amazed by the lovely video footage you have of your monarchs. How special! You are so very lucky to have these amazing insects in your classroom! I can see that Ella is thinking about creatures that go through the process of metamorphosis in their life cycle. Can you think of any other creatures?
