Growing a Grass Buddy!

The picture was… GRASS SEED!
Thanks to some help from our super EIT teachers, this afternoon we made a grass buddy.
At first we were a bit worried that when the grass began to grow it would not be able to poke through the cloth holding the seed and potting mix, but then we spotted little holes in the cloth. We'll watch carefully and observe the growing process in action.
We will have to take care of our buddies so they grow a great head of grass hair.
I wonder how long it will take before the seeds start to grow?
And why did Mrs Perry put the seed into water?
What do you think?

Time to start growing!
Thanks Mrs Smith :)

That looks like a fun activity Room 10, I hope the grass starts to grow soon. Did you know that seeds know which way is up? When they are under the ground they need to grow the right way to get to the light. :) I wonder how they know?

    1. What a great question Kelly. It really got us all thinking… How do seeds know which way to grow? This is something we all want to find out more about.

  6. What fun! I hope we get to keep him at home when you are done. I am looking forward to seeing if there are any hairdressers in the class and to see what amazing hair cuts the buddies will have. Dont forget to keep putting water in the cup so the grass will keep on growing.

    1. Is the hair on your buddy growing now Bostyn? I hope so! Mine is getting quite long and it's a lovely bright green colour. I'm not sure what hair style my buddy will have yet.
