Weaving with Mum By Aradia
WOW! Yesterday we were weaving with my mum Mel. She brought some flax into Room 10. The
flax came from my house. I was Mum's little helper because I know how to prepare the flax. We learned how to weave a tip are. Tipare is the Maori word for a headband. When we started we had 4 pieces of flax. Then we folded, tucked under, flipped and had to keep on doing it. I didn't give up and Jahrel didn't give up as well. You need patience and great maths skills to weave. We had buddies and Jahrel was my buddy. It was shamazing working with my mum. At the end of the session Mrs Perry, Miss Pierson or my mum helped to tie it up so we could wear it. I was showing courage by giving it another go even when I already knew how to weave a tipare. I showed friendliness by helping other students in the classroom. Mum is awesome. Afterwards I thought, "I'm really tired now after doing all that weaving." Kai pai Room 10. :) By Aradia.

Your Mum is one very clever lady! It was so kind of her to gather the harakeke and prepare it for us to use. Luckily she had you to help her out! I now know how much work goes into weaving and have so much respect for master weavers. Thanks for being such a friendly helper yesterday Aradia - we couldn't have done it without you! :)
