Saving the World!

In Writing we are watching interesting video clips and writing about them, choosing which point of view to take. This week we have watched Superman returning a lost camera and saving a few lives along the way. check out the clip and read some of our super writing...

Tyler - I was born with super powers and I use them to help people in need. I had a mission to give a guy his camera back.

Destiny-Paige - Ok, here I go. I had to give a camera back to someone. The note on the camera said "If found, return to Sam."  Now off I go!

Mathias - I'm going to deliver a camera to its rightful owner. WHOOSH! I take to the skies. What a beautiful sight!

Grace - Here I am getting ready to blast off. I run as fast as I can and then I'm up in the sky. I go really high in the sky.

Bianca - He flies through trees, water and over houses so you get a good view.

Divaan - I am called Superman for a reason. Because if they didn't have me, Superman, no one would save people. I have special powers that allow me to fly.

Jordan - I started to run but when I got to the steps I jumped and flew very, very fast. When I got to the bridge I went even faster and faster.

Reicoe - When I was flying I heard something. I saw something spinning and changing colour and going round and round. It was sirens! I quickly flew down and had a look.

Paige - They tried to shoot Superman but he put out his magic weapon. It was his hand. Then he snapped the boy's gun and pushed him down on the ground.

Mathias - I see some robbers. Uh-oh. I drop. The robbers shoot. I put out my hand and deflect the robbers shots. I run to one of the other robbers and POW! punch him clean off his feet. I run to the other. SNAP! I break his gun in two.

Cole - Oh no! Burglars are on the loose! I better help the police. I flew down and then i took two steps. Both looked at me. One of them was shouting at me but I was bullet-proof so I raised my hand and blocked the bullets.

Jack - I saw blue and red flashing police lights so off I went to get the crooks. One of the crooks had a tommy gun and the other one had a pistol. They were both shooting at me but I was blocking the bullets with my hand, like a shield. I ripped the pistol out of the mans hand and snapped it in half.

Aradia - As I was flying I heard police sirens blazing. I landed to see what was going on. Robbers! I stopped the robbers and broke their guns so they couldn't use them anymore. I flew off again into the nice, breezy air. I looked around me to see if there was any more trouble. There was trouble. There was a fire!

Sharnika - Oh no! There is a house on fire and there is a lady in it! So I saved her life. I picked her up and put her on the ground and she said to me "Thank you for saving my life."

Ezrah - I see a flaming building and then I hear someone calling "Help me, someone help me!" I quickly turn around just as the building explodes. I fly as fast as I can and I catch a woman. "Thank you so much Superman. You saved my life!"

Mathias - Whoosh! I take to the skies again. "Help! Help! Help!" A lady standing on a burning building. I wheel around. BOOM! The lady is thrown off the building into my arms. Once we're on the ground she thanks me.

Presley - As I glide into the air, over the buildings I see some burning with a lady trapped in it. I must fly down to save her. Oh, no! I hear a bang, she's falling! I'm going to get her. Now she's safe. I feel proud.

Ana - "Oh no! There's a burning building and there's a lady! Let's go fast. Oh no! I'm going past the building. I will just go back now". BOOM! "Ahhh! Are you alright?" "Yes. Thank you Superman."

Nicholas - "Wow it's Superman! Thank you Superman. You're the best Superman."

Wyatt - "Hello citizens" he said. Then he flew up. Whoosh! Off he went, near the road flying upside down. Back up, then over houses and land.

Julie - All the people got their cameras out and took a photo. When the girl said thank you, he said thank you too. Then he flew up, into the sky.

Evangelina - At least he saved my life from the fire. Then he went off to go where he needed to go. I hope he can help other people too. When he went off he made smoke. I could smell the smoke. I hope he can have a rest.

Bostyn - I was rolling over but I was still flying. I went over trees and houses. I eventually made it to the house where I fell on dried mud.

Bona - I flew back down and the man ran out. I flipped the camera over and winked at it. 'Is this yours?" I said.

Shekinah - When Superman returned the camera to the owner he messed up his yard so the owner was angry and happy at the same time.

Rama - When I landed I made a crater in the mans yard.

Mathias - I shoot down to the dirt covered yard. When I hit the ground CRASH! I create a giant crater. The owner of the camera rushes out of his house. "This is for you" I say, passing the camera over to him. "My camera he says. He watches me take off. 'Oh man," he says "My yard! Oh dang! Superman?"

Checking out the Chickens

This morning George checked out the chickens at my big sister's house in Levin. There were two eggs in the nesting box and one was still warm! Zoe was worried that the chickens would peck George so she held him up very carefully (yes, George was still in his pjs). The chickens love to eat sunflower seeds. Now we are back home again. George has had a really special holiday around the lower North Island. He wants to know what every else in Room 10 is up to. What have you all been doing? Only one more week to go... then back to all the fun and learning at school! :)

Fun at the Zoo

George checked out Wellington Zoo today. He met up with some of his monkey friends and even got up close with a tiger. A friendly tiger that is! He couldn't believe how long the giraffes tongues were and they are blue. Zoe got to touch a giraffe when they came to say hello to her. We had a wonderful day at the zoo!
I like this little monkey!
A very friendly tiger
What a pretty giraffe and so tall!

Snow is COLD!

Did you know snow is cold and icy? And extremely slippery...
George and Zoe found out how cold snow is when we went up the mountain today. The wind was so cold it made your eyes water! George had a wee sit in the snow - he loved it but then he was happy to hop back in the car.
Look at me!
What a cute snowman
Wheeeeee! I can slide in the snow!
Oh no! Down I go!

Hats On

It's chilly in Taupo so George has his new warm hat on. He was amazed at how big Lake Taupo is. The water felt very, very cold. George saw the BIG mountains covered in snow. Today we are off to see the snow!
Lake Taupo is the biggest lake in New Zealand

Trains and Swings

George has had a great day. This morning he went to Keirunga Gardens in Havelock North and went on the little trains with his special little friend. She held him very tight so he wouldn't fall off! He loved having a swing too. When I was walking to Havelock with my baby granddaughter, guess who I saw out biking? Good on you getting out in the sun and having fun Ezrah. It was so cool to see you!

Holiday Time!

After a busy second term it's time to have a break for a couple of weeks. George was ready to head off on holiday and jumped right into my wheelie bag when I was at school today. He's pretty keen to do some travelling so keep checking out our blog to see what he is up too. If you comment George will be sure to reply. Tonight he's parked in front of the fire warming up his fur. What have you been up too? Share by commenting!

Rippa Rugby Champs!

Another top team were these Rippa Rugby players who won the Year ¾ tournament helped at the Regional Sports Park recently. Is Innika the magic ingredient? She featured in the champion mini ball team too. Great stuff guys, and so proud of those who were 'having a go' at something that was new. That's courage in action!

Miniball Champions!

How cool to have a team of champion mini ball players at Mahora School. Well done to these 5 dedicated players - Neilah, Mathias, Cole, Innika and Manu. We are so proud of you! What was the key to your success? We would love to know...
